🏹What does your company do in one sentence?

TechTree (TT) is a socio-economic network that enables tech people to unlock the value of their personal assets (network & knowledge) via “bounties” - payment for impact.

🧐 What problem are you trying to solve?

Getting people’s attention in the spammy web is super hard. At TT we are focusing on tech people - the most important resource fueling global economic growth. Their attention is critical for (a) recruitment (b) dev tools (c) crypto protocols and (d) education.

The spammy internet originated with Google, who persuaded everyone that content should be free and built a click-based revenue model. Unfortunately, this motivates all users to maximize reach at all cost, bringing misinformation, polemical content and clickbait. It also sucks value out of users: They create 70% of all online content, yet get back less than 1% of all revenue generated.

We believe that our users (Tech People) have personal assets such as network & knowledge that are extremely valuable if you looked at them through the impact they can create rather than display. However currently they are like your spare bedroom before Airbnb - it was impossible to monetize it unless you rent your whole flat. Nowadays, the only way people can monetize their personal assets (network, knowledge) is by getting a better paid full time job. We want to change it.

For us, an engineer with 50 friends is a media company. Applying impact based revenue model, his audience is worth over $2M in recruitment fees only, while Google’s display advertising model would likely pay $1000 annually for all their clicks.

Our beachhead is tech talent recruitment - a burning problem with a fragmented market and a low NPS.

😫 Why does the old way no longer work?

The display based advertising web has negative network effects, which makes it increasingly less useful for users:
